i don't know who said this but i agree:
"Hell is empty and all the devils are here."
"Lately, I have come to believe that the principle difference between heaven and hell is the company you keep there."
-- Simon Illyan, from A Civil Campaign by L.M. Bujold
from The Devil's Dictionary by the ultimate cynic Ambrose Bierce :

"Bride, n.: A woman with a fine prospect of happiness behind her."

"Quotation, n.: The act of repeating erroneously the words of another."
"Cogito cogito ergo cogito sum (I think that I think, therefore I think that I am.)"
"Brain, n.: an apparatus with which we think we think."
"Calamities are of two kinds: misfortunes to ourselves, and good fortune to others."
"Painting: The art of protecting flat surfaces from the weather and exposing them to the critic."
"Politics, n.: Strife of interests masquerading as a contest of principles."
"There is nothing new under the sun but there are lots of old things we don't know."
"Politeness, n.: The most acceptable hypocrisy."
"Truth: An ingenious compound of desirability and appearance."
"Mad, adj.: Affected with a high degree of intellectual independence."
"Love, n.: A temporary insanity curable by marriage."
"Egotist, n.: A person of low taste, more interested in himself than in me."
from Mark Twain:
"Always do right. This will gratify some people and astonish the rest."
"Don't go around saying the world owes you a living. The world owes you nothing. It was here first."
"Get your facts first, and then you can distort them as much as you please."
"It is better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you are a fool than to open it and remove all doubt."
"Never put off until tomorrow what you can do the day after tomorrow."
from Voltaire:
"If God did not exist, it would be necessary to invent him."

WHaT'S oN MY SH3LF???
Tuesday, December 28, 2004
i felt like i aged twenty years today. around 9 this morning aling Azon (our landlady's daughter) knocked on our door in her pjs. she said that there's a fire somewhere near the old house of my cousins. it's just 7 or so houses away from ours and that really worried me. lots here were not that big (but thank god for firewalls). i looked out the window and wondered if she's telling me the truth at all. i didn't see any smoke. well that changed after a few minutes when black smoke started coming in through our window.the bomberos were not quite late as always. the people there kept the fire from spreading. i've never been in a fire situation before. i never even look forward to fire drills because i work on the 32nd floor. thank God it happened in the morning and not at night. i'm sure i wouldn't only panic, i'll probably crossed over from panic to hysteria as soon as i smell the smoke. oh well how sad for the owners of the house, it'll be a not so happy new year for them.
for now, i'm really hungry, i miss breakfast.

1.What did you do in 2004 that you'd never done before? **worked on christmas day and NEW YEARSunday, December 26, 2004
last night was my first christmas away from my family. i spent it with my sister jack and my cousin jim(alright they're family - but you know what i mean). noche buena was consist of bromate free bread and hotdogs ",> if my mother knew this she'd probably cry - good thing she doesn't surf the net. so inisip na lang namin ham yun (we imagined it's ham). and when that didn't do it, we all decided to go to sleep - maybe it will taste even better in our dreams.it's time to think of my new year's resolution. keyword is "new." i guess that means no "recycling" of past resolutions that never materialized. i have 5 days. it can't be that hard...right?
book i'm reading right now, stone of tears by terry goodkind. i read the 4th and 5th book already. i'm doing everything backwards. i think that has to be a part of my resolutions too. whatever.
most favorite "gift" i got this christmas? a "bilao." now i don't know what the translation for that is.
